Caring for Cynthia - Press Kit  Download the Caring for Cynthia maquette. (1.4 MB PDF)   Caring for Cynthia is a photojournalistic essay created by Amy Blackburn, a registered nurse and photographer. Amy's images and essays provide first-hand experiences of breast cancer from a caregiver's perspective once her best friend, Cynthia, an internal medicine physician was diagnosed with breast cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer will affect an estimated 180.000 men and woman in the United States in 2007. While no statistics include the percentage of co-survivors associated with each diagnosis, one can only imagine the number of friends, family members, loved ones, and medical staff whose lives are affected by the diagnosis and the level of caring required to support the well being of those diagnosed.
